Christmas on Canal

Canal Street in the New Smyrna Beach Downtown Historic District, lined with stately palms, peppered with intriguing historic buildings and simply bursting with amazing events throughout the year, has always been markedly quaint and charming; but the holiday season on New Smyrna Beach’s historic Canal Street is an even more especially magical time of year! Here is a small sampling of what entices locals and vacationers to flock here in droves at Christmastime…

Canal Street kicks off Christmas the Friday after Thanksgiving with the Canal Street Tree Lighting Ceremony complete with live musical performances and Santa’s grand entrance!

Then, get a jump on your holiday shopping with the Coastal Christmas Market on Canal, which offers beautiful gifts and holiday décor handcrafted by talented local artisans. Don’t forget to taste-test the scrumptious holiday street fare and baked goods on display!

Plus, pick your parade watching post early because the holidays are also a time for the perennially packed Annual New Smyrna Beach Christmas Parade. These festive follies begin at the intersection of Flagler and South Atlantic avenues; continue west along Flagler and the North Causeway, then south on Riverside Drive, until they turn west on Canal and finish up at the end of Orange Street.

Ah, but that’s not all! Take in some shopping, wining and dining on an epic Girls’ Night Out on Canal, and then feel free to ooh and ah at the Holiday Boat Parade which travels along the scenic Intracoastal Waterway and astonishes us all with its majestic pageantry!
