Rainy Day? No problem!

Everyone comes to Florida to enjoy our beautiful weather. Even when it rains here, the showers tend to be brief, but if they’re not, there is always an enjoyable way to alleviate the boredom of a rainy day in New Smyrna Beach. New Smyrna is a charming beachside town exploding with culture and history, so hang on to your tricorn hat and get ready for some fun!

Do you enjoy history? With remarkable historic collections, including Native American artifacts, Civil War displays, railroad memorabilia, fishing and hunting displays, displays of local archaeological discoveries, special temporary exhibits, as well as a museum store, the New Smyrna Beach Museum of History is a wonderful way to spend the day! Initiated in 1982 and operated by the Southeast Volusia Historical Society, this exceptional not-for-profit is located at 120 Sams Avenue in the historic Canal Street district, nestled amidst an eclectic mix of restaurants and shops.

Did someone say restaurants and shops? New Smyrna Beach is packed full of them! If you’re hungry, there are waterfront bars, outdoor cafes and even old fashioned creameries. Then, shop until your heart’s content…for beachy trinkets and beachwear, in surfside shops, for beach-themed home décor and more.

New Smyrna Beach is also a little town with a big heart, and culture plays a big part. If you are not wine tasting or meandering through art galleries, you can take in a Broadway style show at The Little Theatre of New Smyrna Beach. For more traditional movie-goers, there are 12 great flicks from which to choose at the New Smyrna Beach AMC, which offers comfy reclining seats.
